Crime Prevention & Community outreach
The Police Department takes pride in its service, professionalism, and relationship with citizens, businesses, and civic and non-profit organizations. The Department hosts and participates in various events and programs throughout the year for the public to meet officers, ask questions, raise concerns, or learn how to partner with us for a safer community.
Neighborhood Watch and Community Safety Programs
The Forest Grove Police Department’s Neighborhood & Community Crime Watch program is designed to teach residents how to be more observant neighbors, how to recognize suspicious activities, and know how and when to report to authorities. Additionally, the program teaches participants techniques to reduce the risk of being victimized at home, in their vehicles and in public places, as well as how to make their property more secure.
The presentation is available to new and existing Watch groups—including neighborhoods, apartment or residential complexes, HOAs, or any other community, such as church groups, civic clubs, etc.
TOPICS COVERED INCLUDE:
- ·Identifying and reporting suspicious activity
- Basic home and vehicle safety and security
- Code Enforcement (abandoned vehicles, graffiti, noise, nuisances)
- Basic overview of scams (upon request)
- Using Social Media to communicate with neighbors and groups
- Opportunities to partner with the FGPD for events and activities
Contact us with your requested and alternate dates and times. At this time, we cannot accommodate groups on Wednesday afternoons/evenings. Weekend presentations are available upon request.
Business Watch

Whether you're a small shop or a larger operation, the information you'll receive will be crucial for enhancing the safety and security of your environment.

Paws on Patrol
Paws On Patrol is a crime prevention program that encourages resident dog owners to serve as extra eyes and ears for the community. At any given time, in every kind of weather, Forest Grove has an abundance of four-legged residents out and about with their human friends. Anyone who walks their dog within the city is encouraged to join - it doesn’t require you to do anything you’re not already doing!
Paws on Patrol members are simply asked to watch a brief educational Power Point that consists of tips on how to spot suspicious behavior, what information is pertinent to law enforcement and how best to relay that information to 911 dispatchers. Additionally, you will receive occasional emails with information about local crime trends and how best to prevent yourself from becoming a victim.
To join, contact us at Lquinsland@forestgrove-or.gov or use our online application to register.
Scam Prevention Presentations
Scam education and prevention workshops are open to any local community groups, civic clubs, religious organizations, assisted living facilities, neighborhood watch programs, HOAs and apartment complexes, and any other community group. We ask that groups have at least ten adults in attendance. Contact us with your requested and alternate dates and times. At this time, we cannot accommodate groups on Wednesday afternoons/evenings. Weekend presentations are available upon request.
