On Thursday, January 16, 2025, the City of Forest Grove received a $1.4 million grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) grant will fund the installation of sidewalks and improve pedestrian safety at railroad crossings. The project focuses on the area along Mountain View Lane and TV Highway, between Yew Street and Rose Grove Mobile Home Park.
SRTS Grant program focuses on making travel safer within a two-mile radius of schools, prioritizing under-resourced communities to ensure a safer journey for all students. These projects are funded through ODOT’s Safe Routes to School Competitive Construction Grant Program. ODOT received 89 applications for this round of funding, totaling $138.2 million in safety improvements around the state.
