This week, a judge sentenced Steven Michael Klaus, a former area firefighter, to 25 years in prison. Mr. Klaus sexually abused a child multiple times over the course of five years.
When his actions came to light, the Forest Grove investigation unit discovered the defendant secretly installed cameras in the child’s bedroom and bathroom. He stored the footage of the victim on his computer in a folder called, “Monitoring My Pet.” Investigators also found additional child sexual
abuse materials unrelated to the victim in this case.
We commend the victim and her family for the bravery they’ve shown throughout the court process. We also want to thank the FGPD detectives for their hard work and dedication to this case.
