Both trail segments in the Forest Grove Loop Trail are located near streams and other environmentally sensitive areas so the design and construction of the trail should consider the various environmental impacts.
The Northwestern segment of the David Hill Trail that runs along a stream is in close proximity to wetlands. The smaller segment of the David Hill Trail, at the intersection with Silverstone Drive, is designated as wetland. The western segment of the Gales Creek Trail, between Reuter Farms Park and Knox ridge Park, where it intersects with Pacific Avenue, are in areas designated as wetlands.
The north-western sections of David Hill Trail Corridor are located on a steep slope (25%). The eastern portion of the trail segment and the Gales Creek Trail Corridor is located on flat terrain.
The Natural Resource Areas identified on the Environmental Conditions Map support fish and wildlife habitat and must implement standards through Natural Resource Areas, complying with Title 13 of Metro’s Urban Growth Management Functional Plan. The corridor trail runs adjacent or across streams that are classified as high or moderate value Natural Reserve Areas.
