A proclamation is a ceremonial document issued by the City Council to commemorate a specific time (day, week, or month) to honor, celebrate, or create awareness of an event or significant issue.
In issuing proclamations, the City Council is using its own voice to honor, celebrate, or create awareness of an event or an issue important to the City. Community members may submit requests, however there is no right to a proclamation and the City may edit any drafted material. Proclamations are honorary and are not legally or administratively binding.
