The Civics Academy is an interactive, behind-the-scenes look at how your local government works. This free program is designed for community members who want to deepen their understanding of City operations, meet City staff, and explore how decisions are made. No prior experience or knowledge is required. All backgrounds welcome.
Applications for Civics Academy 2026 will open later summer.
What to Expect
Participants will:
Learn how City departments function and serve the community.
Engage directly with City staff.
Explore how the City operates. For example, municipal budgeting, planning process, public safety systems, and more.
Who Should Apply?
Anyone who:
Lives within the city limits of Forest Grove
Open to Forest Grove business owners if space is available
is 18 years of age or older
Is interested in community service or local policy
Wants to build relationships and be more civically engaged
Program Details
Duration: 8 weekly sessions, Wednesdays, September 2- October 21. Each session begins at 5:30-7:30p. Light refreshments are provided.

Location: Rotates among various City buildings and facilities.
Cost: Free to attend. Participants must apply. Class size limited to 20 participants.
